Clean Fairfax Council

The Clean Fairfax Council has begun a new program, "Report a litterer".  The program is intended to allow a citizen to anonymously report when a Virginia driver has been careless and thrown litter from their vehicle.  The citizen may report the violator by filling out a short report that is attached to the report a litterer flyer, by calling 703-324-3106, or by going to the website www.cleanfairfaxcouncil.org.  After the report is filed, a letter is sent from the police department to the owner of the vehicle letting them know it is illegal to litter and that they were seen doing so.  Pamphlets are being sent, however, we have not received them at the station yet.

We hope you will get useful information from this site. The Council is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to issues relating to litter control, litter prevention, and recycling
.

Our primary focus is on litter prevention and control and as a major part of our program we sponsor local litter cleanups. We focus on the spring and fall as primary times for these cleanup but will assist you any time you want to do your part for our environment. You pick the time, the place, and get your volunteers and the Council will provide the 30 gallon litter bags, clear recycling bags, safety vests, hats, gloves, auto litter bags and a memento for each volunteer. Fill out the form listed under Cleanups on this web site and send it to us. The supplies will help make your cleanup a success and they are FREE.

As you go through this web site you will see the many projects of our program. We work hard to reduce litter in Fairfax County by engaging citizens (adult and student) to be aware of the problem and part of the solution.

Please note: As the Council works exclusively in Fairfax County, Virginia; we cannot assist you if you live elsewhere. However, most jurisdictions in Virginia have a litter prevention and/or recycling program. Please contact your local program or call the Council for information on the program in your part of Virginia.
